Srinagar : The Cyber Cell of J&K Police in Kulgam on Saturday successfully resolved several cases of online financial frauds, recovering a total of Rs. 13,69,377.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that the multiple complaints were received involving fraudulent schemes amounting to Rs. 13,69,377. Besides, these scams involved fake investment opportunities where victims were promised high returns for additional deposits.
Police in its statement further said that while acting swiftly, Cyber Police Kulgam collected evidence and necessary information from the victims, adding therein that while using advanced cyber means, they managed to freeze the fraudulent transactions and an amount of Rs. 13,69,377/- was held and recovered and thereof it was successfully credited back to the victims.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to remain cautious against online scams, such as fake trading platforms and avoid clicking on suspicious links, fake SMS credit messages, and installing unauthorized applications.
