Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Kulgam and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police team of Police Post Jawahar Tunnel at a checkpoint established at Puranigam Crossing intercepted a suspect identified as Fayaz Ahmad Itoo S/o Abdul Gani Itoo R/o Chowgam carrying a bag, who after noticing police party tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully, adding therein that during search, 4.3 Kg of Grinded Cannabis concealed in the said bag was recovered from the possession of the said.
Stating a case under FIR No. 07/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Qazigund besides initiating further investigation, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society, reiterating therein its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
