Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested six suspect for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Sopore and also seized seven vehicles from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a team led by Incharge Police Post Fruit Mandi under the supervision of SDPO Sopore and SHO Police Station Sopore in collaboration with the Geology and Mining department arrested 6 suspects identified as Parvaiz Ahmad Khan R/o Khamoh Rafiabad, Muzafar Ramzan Sumji, Nadeem Mohiudin, Mohammad Shafi, Mudasir Ahmad Dar and Hilal Ahmad Mir all residents of Doabgah Sopore, adding therein that 7 vehicles, including one JCB and six tractors were also seized for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.
Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
