Javed Dar conducts surprise visit to GMC B’la, reviews functioning

Baramulla : Minister for Agriculture Production, Rural Development Department and Panchayati Raj, Javed Ahmad Dar, on Wednesday conducted a surprise visit to Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla to review its functioning and service delivery.
During the visit, Principal GMC Baramulla, Dr. Majid Jahangir and Medical Superintendent of associated hospital, Dr. Parvaiz Masoodi, briefed the Minister about the operations, infrastructure and challenges faced by the institution. They provided updates on ongoing projects and initiatives aimed at improving patient care and healthcare services.
The Minister interacted with the patients, attendants, doctors and paramedical staff to seek feedback on healthcare services there. He inspected various departments and sought details about the duty rosters of staff, particularly during the evening and morning hours, to ensure adequate staffing and seamless service delivery. He directed the administration to strictly adhere to the duty schedules and ensure presence of staff at all critical hours.
Javed Dar also issued strict directions for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene across the institution, ensuring availability of essential medicines and equipment besides improving the response time in emergency services. He further stressed the need for regular monitoring and timely redressal of grievances to build public trust in the healthcare system.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to quality healthcare, Javed Dar urged the staff to uphold high standards of professionalism and deliver compassionate care to patients. He assured full support for strengthening the institution’s infrastructure and resources.
