DC Kishtwar reviews developmental initiatives in Sub-Division Chatroo

Kishtwar : Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kishtwar, Rajesh Kumar Shavan Wednesday reviewed the developmental initiatives in Sub-Division Chatroo here at a meeting of local administration.
The meeting focused on key developmental initiatives, sectoral progress, and upcoming projects aimed at enhancing the overall growth and welfare of the sub-division.
The DC emphasized the historical significance of Chatroo, tracing its roots back to its establishment as a Niabat, and highlighted its progression over the years.
The DC reviewed the survey of proposed PMGSY roads in Chatroo Block, prioritizing five key roads for immediate action. Public feedback was sought to ensure timely progress. He also assessed ongoing snow clearance operations on PMGSY roads in Sinthan areas and instructed prompt measures to maintain connectivity.
Reviewing the status in the health sector, he highlighted the implementation of innovative projects, including the distribution of blood pressure apparatus among ASHA and Anganwadi Workers under a CSR initiative in collaboration with an NGO from Maharashtra.
He directed officials to adopt a mission-mode approach for anemia and TB eradication, aiming for the district to achieve TB-free status. Additionally, he reviewed Health Schemes-Aadhaar linkage,ABHA registration Cards and emphasized the need for increased awareness campaigns. The DC encouraged promoting maternal and child health by ensuring maximum participation in the ongoing “Healthy Baby Competition” launched recently.
In the education sector, the DC reviewed the preparations and onset of Winter Camps to plug in the educational gaps for students in these rural areas and instructed the Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) to start winter classes immediately.
While discussing steps taken to minimize school dropout rate particularly among girls and children from underprivileged sections, the DC stressed the importance of implementing adult education programs on a mission mode basis.
Assessing the Horticulture activities, the DC set a target to develop 1,000 orchards in the sub division to boost the sector.
He also discussed the creation of an eco-park at Singpora with a budget of ₹10 lakh and measures to curb forest fires and timber smuggling.
Reviewing the performance of the Rural Development Department, he was informed that of 127 sanctioned works 126 have been initiated, with 70 already completed. He directed officials to address pending works within four days and ensure timely payments under PMAY. The DC appreciated ongoing solarization projects under the “PM Surya Ghar” scheme, ensuring a 50% subsidy for households, with a vision to achieve energy self-sufficiency in the region.
The DC also commended the Fisheries Department for its progress and instructed efforts to double productivity. He proposed establishing a fisheries outlet in the region.
He reviewed 24 ongoing Water Supply Schemes of JJM and was informed that 4 WSS have been completed, so far. He directed officials to expedite pipeline installations while addressing hindrances caused by harsh winters.
Furthermore, he held a separate meeting with revenue officials to streamline administrative functions and conducted an on-the-spot inspection of snow clearance and road connectivity in the Sinthan area.
The DC emphasized inter-departmental coordination and urged officials to work with dedication toward achieving the district’s developmental goals. Public participation and feedback were encouraged to ensure the effective implementation of all initiatives.
