Police arrests multiple accused persons in drug trafficking operations in Srinagar Recover substantial narcotics

Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested several suspects for being involved in drug trafficking activities during anti-drug trafficking operations in Srinagar City.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police team of Police Station M.R. Gunj during a routine naka checking at Syed Mansoor Zaldagar stopped an auto bearing registration no. JK01H-9826 in which Waseem Bashir Sheikh (driver) S/o Bashir Ahmad Sheikh & Uzma Wasim (passenger) W/o Waseem Ahmad Sheikh, both residents of Hamdania Colony Bemina and upon searches substantial quantity of narcotic substances was recovered from their possession. Police in its statement further said “during the course of investigation led by SHO MR Ganj, it came to fore that the married couple used their rickshaw and family cover to deceive authorities while selling narcotics among the youth”, adding therein that both the said accused were arrested.
Stating that a case under relevant sections of NDPS Act was registered at Police Station M.R. Ganj besides initiating further investigations Police in its statement further said a Police team from Police Station Zadibal at a checkpoint established at Sazgaripora on January 3 arrested a drug peddler identified as Waseem Ahmad Bafanda S/o Ghulam Ahmad R/o Dangerpora Mallabagh Hazratbal , adding therein that during search substantial quantity of contraband substance and ₹3,020 was recovered from his possession following which a case under NDPS Act was registered in Police Station Zadibal.
Police in its statement further said that during investigation, two more individuals identified as Waqar Ahmad Duloo @ Koter S/o Late Mohammad Rafiq Duloo R/o Govt. Housing Colony Ellahi Bagh Srinagar and Mohammad Rafiq Pattoo S/o Ali Mohammad Pattoo R/o Shah Mohalla Ahmad Nagar, were arrested along with substantial quantity of contraband substances, adding therein that investigation of the aforementioned cases are going on.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police said that these actions show its commitment in tackling drug trafficking and appealed people to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the Police.
