DDC reviews progress under PMAY Urban in Poonch Distt

Poonch : A meeting was convened on Tuesday to review the physical and financial progress under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban (PMAY-U) in Poonch District.
The meeting was chaired by District Development Commissioner (DDC) Poonch, Vikas Kundal, at his office Chamber.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Municipal Council Poonch presented an overview of the ongoing works, beneficiary registration under PMAY-U, highlighting both achievements and challenges that require immediate attention.
During the meeting, the DDC assessed the town-wise registration status under the PMAY-U scheme and directed the authorities to organize special camps in both municipalities of the district. He emphasized the need to expedite the registration process for PMAY-U Phase 2.0 beneficiaries on a fast-track basis, ensuring dual verification to maintain integrity and include only eligible beneficiaries.
The DDC instructed the Executing Officer to take prompt action to recover funds from beneficiaries who have received advance mobilization but have failed to commence construction and are identified as defaulters. He also directed the Executing Officers to ensure the timely completion of all pending houses within the designated timeframe.
The DDC urged the concerned departments to strictly adhere to scheme guidelines and maintain a transparent and accountable process for the benefit of the local population.
The meeting concluded with the DDC reiterating the importance of equitable scheme distribution, timely project execution, and improved monitoring mechanisms to achieve developmental goals.
The meeting was attended by DGM JK Housing Board, Executive Engineer Jal Shakti, Executive Engineer JPDCL, CEO MC Poonch/ Surankote, Tehsildar Haveli/ Surankote.
