Jammu : Police in Jammu on Monday said that under a new initiative titled “Chai with Cop”, an interaction program was held at Police Station Janipur to strengthen police-public relations and ensure better coordination. The meeting was organized by the newly appointed SHO Janipur, Insp. Vikram Sharma, under the guidance of SDPO City West.
In a statement issued from the District Police OfficeJammu Police said that the initiative aims to promote a free flow of information regarding any cognizable activities within the jurisdiction of Police Station Janipur. Community Partnership Group meetings are being held regularly to foster face-to-face interactions between law enforcement officers and the public for improved service delivery.
Prominent local figures, including Ganesh Dutt Sharma, Ashok Babbar (Vice President), Raman Bakshi (Chairman), Ramesh Chander Bali (President, Janipur Market Association), Vikshyat Vaid (Secretary), Vishal Verma, and Gurnam Singh (NC Block President), were among the participants.

The participants raised issues such as inadequate street lighting in drug-prone areas, evening traffic congestion, and the need for better coordination between police and the community to tackle the drug menace. While extending the vote of thanks, SHO Janipur urged residents to stay vigilant regarding the security of the area, especially in light of the upcoming Republic Day celebrations. He emphasized the importance of timely crime reporting to counter the nefarious designs of anti-national elements. The people were asked to stay in touch with the police and report grievances or incidents without delay. The SHO stressed that law-abiding citizens are the “eyes and ears” of the police, and their active participation in community policing is essential for maintaining peace and order.
