Jammu : Police in Jammu on Monday said that they have foiled a bovine smuggling attempt in the Akhnoor Sub-Division, rescuing six bovines and seizing a vehicle involved in the illegal transportation. The operation was conducted as part of their ongoing campaign against bovine smuggling under Operation Kamdhenu.
In a statement issued from District Police Office Jammu Police said that a police team from Police Post Chowki Choura intercepted a Mahindra Bolero vehicle bearing registration number JK11G-3514 at a naka near Gulaba Chapper, Chowki Choura. The vehicle, which was coming from Khour towards Rajouri, was stopped for checking. However, the driver managed to flee from the spot, taking advantage of the darkness. A total of six bovines were rescued, and the vehicle was seized. In this regard, a case has been registered under relevant laws at Police Station Akhnoor, and further investigation is underway.
