Srinagar|Jan, 3 : Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday said that the normalcy has not been fully restored in Jammu and Kashmir.
Abdullah was responding to a question of a reporter who sought his reaction to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks who while releasing the book ‘Jammu Kashmir & Ladakh Through the Ages: A Visual Narrative of Continuities and Linkages’” in New Delhi on Thursday, said that “Article 370 was a facilitator of terrorism and its abrogation completely integrated J&K with India.”
The Chief Minister initially said that he had nothing to say on the Home Minister’s statement. “I don’t want to say anything on this. …Even today, there are reports from some places, when there are attacks…. Jammu and Kashmir is not completely normal today. But, it is a process. Let’s see what happens in the future,” he told reporters Omar also dismissed the rumours about changing the name of Kashmir valley. “There is no such thing. I don’t know if it was run by a channel or a newspaper. But, they corrected it. There is no such thing. And without the permission of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, this cannot happen,” he said. Abdullah said that J&K government is fully geared up to tackle the situation amid the forecast of moderate to heavy snowfall in coming days. “We are ready to tackle the situation. And after the last snowfall, we have gained some experience. Where the work was fine, it will be repeated. Where there were some shortcomings or weaknesses, they will be corrected,” he said.
