Jammu : Police in Jammu on Thursday said that in a major crackdown on illegal mining, 933 vehicles involved in unlawful activities were seized across the district during 2024. Out of these, 831 vehicles were released after completing necessary formalities, while fines totaling ₹1.3157312 were imposed on violators.
In a statement issued from the District Police Headquarters Jammu Police said that four FIRs were registered against repeat offenders, and the process to cancel the registration of these vehicles has been initiated. According to the statement SSP Jammu Joginder Singh-JKPS, reiterated police’s commitment to safeguard natural resources and tackle the mining mafia to ensure environmental and public welfare. In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police said that this decisive action demonstrates Jammu Police’s unwavering commitment to enforce the law and protect the natural resources.
