6 drug peddlers arrested across valley, contraband substances recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested six drug peddlers across Kashmir valley and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party during patrolling near JVC Hospital Bemina, intercepted one Javid Ahmad Lone S/o Bashir Ahmad Lone R/o Khargam Pattan A/P Mansoor Colony Bemina while he was on its way from Children Hospital to JVC Hospital Srinagar and tried to flee upon seeing the Police party, adding therein that the said accused was tactfully apprehended by the patrolling party. Stating that during search, 44 grams of charas like substance was recovered from the possession of the said accused who was arrested, Police in its statement further said that a police party from Police Station Nowgam during domination on Pahroo Kenihama axis intercepted one Reyaz Ahmed Shah S/o Gulzar Ahmed Shah R/o Check-e-Pahroo at Ganjipora and during search, 39 Kgs of Cannabis Powder concealed in two nylon bags were recovered the possession of the said accused who was arrested on spot. Police in its statement further said that in Ganderbal also a police party of Police Station Ganderbal during naka checking at Harran crossing intercepted a vehicle (Tata Mobile) bearing registration No. JK03H-2841 driven by one Zafar Bashir Bhat S/o Bashir Ahmad Bhat R/o Gundirehman and during search of the vehicle, 40 strips of SpasmoProxyvon-Plus (320 tablets) was recovered from the possession of said accused driver who was arrested on the spot, adding therein that the vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized.
Stating that in a similar action in Baramulla a Police party of Police Station Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Janbazpora Baramulla arrested one Mubashir Ahmad Bhat S/o Gh Mohd R/o Nowpora Jageer Kreeri, Police in its statement further said that during search, 121 grams of Charas like substances was recovered from the possession of the said accused. Police in its statement further said that a police party of Police Station Uri at a checkpoint established at Laghama-Garkote crossing arrested one Mohd Rafiq Awan S/o Mohammad Abdullah R/o Garkote, adding therein that during search, 4.2Kgs of Cannabis power like substances was recovered from the possession of the said accused.
Stating that in Handwara also a Police Party of Police Post Langate during naka checking at Kuhroo Bridge, intercepted a suspiect identified as Hilal Ahmad Tantray S/o Mohd Yousuf Tantray R/o Takiya Langate and during search recovered 55 grams of Charas-like substance from the possession of the said accused who was subsequently arrested, adding therein that cases under relevant sections of law was registered at respective police stations besides initiating further investigation. In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and reiterated its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
