Extortion case solved in Srinagar, 3 accused persons arrested: Police

Srinagar: Police on Wednesday said that it has solved a case of extortion and physical assault with the arrest of three individuals involved in the commission of crime.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that on 23rd December 2024 one Gh Mohi Ud Din S/o Gh Hassan Sheikh R/o Firdous Abad Batamaloo, approached Police Station Maisuma in an injured condition and submitted a written complaint wherein he alleged that on 21st/22nd December last year, at around 0200 hours, while he was enroute to Budshah Chowk for sanitation work, he was wrongfully restrained by a group of assailants. Stating that the miscreants physically assaulted him and forcibly took some cash from his wallet before fleeing the scene, Police in its statement said a case was accordingly registered under FIR No. 30/2024 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Maisuma besides initiating formal investigation .
Police in its statement further said that through meticulous efforts, including analysis of CCTV footage and other technical evidence, the investigating team arrested the individuals involved in the commission of crime and identified them identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Dar @Ish Mut S/o Khursheed Ahmad Dar R/o Nishat Khaki Mohalla, Srinagar, Tahir Ahmad Mir @90 S/o Sonaullah Mir R/o Bangladesh Colony Rainawari, A/P Palpora Noorbagh, Srinagar and Arsalan Mushtaq Wandroo @Karihul S/o Mushtaq Ahmad R/o Hasibath Rainawari, Srinagar.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police said that timely and effective response from J&K Police underscores their commitment to maintaining law and order in the region and ensure safety and security of the public.
