Srinagar: J&K Police, Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), Railway Protection Force (RPF), Fire & Emergency service conducted a mock drill on Tuesday in railway station Qazigund in Kulgam district of south Kashmir, officials said.
The mock drill was conducted as Indian Railways is gearing up to launch train operations connecting Kashmir with the rest of the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the operations in the first week of January. The mock drill exercise was conducted to assess emergency response mechanisms and preparedness in handling critical situations. A police statement said the mock drill was held to prepare field forces to respond promptly to any untoward incident, especially of a militancy related nature with quick and safe response and to assess the security response time, coordination, and effectiveness. “The exercise also aimed to identify areas for improvement and streamline the response mechanism,” police said.
A team of specialist officers of Kulgam police, CAPF, RPF, Fire and emergency service participated in the said exercise. The mock drill was conducted under the supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police Kulgam Sahil Sarangal, who appreciated the efforts of security forces present in enhancing its emergency response capabilities. The mock drill exercise is part of the ongoing efforts of Kulgam police to enhance emergency response mechanisms and provide effective services to the community.
