Srinagar: JKAP President Altaf Bukhari on Sunday said that the residents of Gund in Ganderbal demonstrated the true spirit of Kashmiri hospitality by opening their homes and a mosque to stranded tourists during heavy snowfall. The snowfall on Saturday had blocked roads leading to Sonamarg, leaving many travelers unable to continue their journey.
“It was truly heartening to see photographs and videos showing how residents welcomed these unexpected guests. This gesture is a powerful reflection of Kashmir’s welcoming culture, of which we are proud,” Bukhari said.
The residents offered food, heating equipment, and warm gadgets to ensure the comfort of the stranded tourists amid the harsh weather. Their selfless act has drawn widespread appreciation and admiration.
