Srinagar : A two-year-old girl lost her life while three other members of a family were hospitalized due to suffocation caused by a charcoal fire pot used for heating at Ves Batapora area of Kulgam district, officials reported.
An official said that a family, originally nomads from Ramban and currently living as tenants in Ves Batapora, suffered suffocation during the night due to the use of a charcoal fire pot indoors.
The family of four out of five was rushed to PHC Mohammadpora by police, health officials, and the local administration. However, the two-year-old girl, identified as Aadita Jan, daughter of Nissar Ahmad from Ramban, was declared dead upon arrival at the health center.
A relative of the family expressed gratitude to the local residents and administration, saying, “We are thankful to the people and authorities who acted quickly to shift the family to the hospital and saved the lives of the other three members.”
Medical Superintendent (MS) of District Hospital Kulgam said that one child was brought dead, while the three hospitalized family members are in stable condition
