Preservation work initiated in Archives Repository Jammu

Jammu : The Archives Repository Jammu has initiated a Comprehensive Preservation Project to safeguard the valuable historical Records and documents housed in the Repository.
The Archives Repository Jammu is home to a vast collection of historical records, including manuscripts, documents and photographs that date back to the 17th century. These records provide valuable insights into the history of Jammu and Kashmir and are an important part of the region’s cultural heritage.
The Preservation project is being undertaken by expert staff of the Repository, who are using State of the Art techniques and equipment to preserve the records. The project is expected to be completed within the next month and will ensure the long term preservation of the valuable records.
The step has been initiated on the directions of Director Archives, Archaeology and Museums, J&K, KuldeepKrishanSidha who said, “We are committed to preserving the rich cultural heritage of J&K, and after the shifting of records from Mubarak Mandi to Kala Kendra, this preservation project is an important step in that direction.”
He added, “The preservation work, which is currently underway, aims to protect the fragile and sensitive records from damage, deterioration and loss. The project involves careful cleaning, conservation, change of clothes of records to ensure their longevity and accessibility.”
