Srinagar: Chief Engineer Jal Shakti Department Braham Jyoti Sharma on Friday assured the people that efforts were in full swing to ensure that there are no disruptions in the water supply.
Jyoti Sharma on Friday said, “Our staff is working continuously in the extreme weather conditions to ensure that the taps don’t turn dry.” He said the temperature falling well below the freezing point has made their job difficult but his field staff is working hard to overcome the challenge. Sharma said, “We are striving to ensure uninterrupted water supply. In cases of disruption, we immediately address complaints.” He said that the areas located at higher altitudes often experience frozen sources, causing temporary halts in supply. “Our workers are trained to handle such conditions. They start early in the morning to ensure the flow is restored,” he added. Sharma said with the snowfall in the region, all their men and machinery are ready to meet any challenge. He said beyond the regular water supply, they have also placed water tankers in standby mode to meet any of the water supply requirements in the region.He added that control rooms have been activated to assist residents in need. “This is not a new challenge. It happens every year, and our staff knows how to manage it. We are committed to maintaining water supply despite the harsh weather,” he said
