State Surveillance Team reviews Implementation of IDS Prog in Jammu Distts

Jammu : A one-day training-cum-review meeting under the Integrated Disease Surveillance Program (IDSP)-Integrated Health Information Platform (IHIP) for District Surveillance Units (DSUs) of Jammu Division was organized here Tuesday by the State Surveillance Unit, IDSP Jammu Division.
Integrated Disease Surveillance Program (IDSP) is being implemented with the support of National Health Mission J&K. The event was held at Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar.
The meeting was chaired by Director of Health Services Jammu Dr. RakeshMagotra.
The program commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. HarjeetRai, who acknowledged the significant contribution of District Surveillance Units in maintaining public health safety. He remarked that the future of disease prevention depends on the meticulous efforts ‘we make today in monitoring and reporting as integrated health information is the backbone of public health planning.’
Dr. Abdul Hamid Zargar appreciated the State Surveillance Unit for organizing the meeting and emphasized the critical role of the IDSP. He encouraged the participants to ensure proactive and collaborative efforts to improve disease surveillance and response mechanisms.
Dr. Ila Gupta praised the efforts of the District Surveillance Units in ensuring timely and accurate reporting through the IHIP platform. She also added that strong surveillance systems not only ensure better disease prevention but also contribute to evidence-based policymaking at all levels.
The meeting was attended by District Surveillance Officers, District Epidemiologists, District Microbiologists, District Data Managers, and Data Entry Operators from all districts of the Jammu Division. Each district team presented their status updates and achievements under the IDSP-IHIP platform.
State Surveillance Team conducted an in-depth review of the IHIP implementation status across the districts and provided further guidance for strengthening the surveillance and reporting systems.
Other prominent functionaries present in the meeting were Deputy Medical Superintendent Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar Jammu Dr. Balwinder Singh and Assistant Director (Health Education Bureau Section), Directorate of Health Services Jammu Dr. Simmi Thakur.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from all participants to enhance real-time reporting and data quality, ensuring improved disease surveillance and response in the region.
