Chairman DDC Srinagar reviews progress achieved under Distt Capex Budget, MGNREGA & PMAY-G

Malik stresses on fast-tracking execution for full utilization of funds ahead of financial year end

Srinagar: The Chairman, District Development Council (DDC) Srinagar, Aftab Malik Tuesday chaired a meeting here to review the progress achieved under District Capex Budget, MGNREGA and PMAY-G schemes for the financial year 2024-25.
Besides, CEO of the Council(ADDC, Srinagar), Ghulam Hassan Sheikh and members of the Council, the meeting was attended by General Manager, DIC Srinagar, ACD, ACP, CMO, CEO besides all Executive Engineers of R&B, KPDCL, Jal Shakti, BDOs and other sectoral officers of the district.
At the outset, the CEO DDC briefed the meeting stating that 241 works under District Capex stand completed. He said an amount of Rs 48.08 lac have been expended on the execution of works identified by the council while work on seven works is going on apace.
Regarding the progress achieved under MGNREGA 2024-25, the meeting was informed that 0.67 lac (143% of the approved labour budget) person days have been generated until now, against the target of 0.55 lac persondays earmarked for the Current FY 2024-25. Besides, 169 works have been taken up in hand in four CD-Blocks of this District comprising 21 Gram Panchayats. 1.00 lac persondays are anticipated to be achieved/ generated by the end of current FY.
With respect to progress recorded under PMAY-G 2024-25, it was informed that in order to enable poor people in the rural areas to construct their houses, financial assistance worth Rs. 1.30 lac and 95 persondays (under MGNREGA) are being provided under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana- Gramin. Under the scheme, 31 houses have been completed so far against the target of 41, and work on remaining houses is in progress.
The Chairman, DDC stressed on fast tracking the execution to ensure that the funds are utilized in full ahead of the financial year end. He said there should not be any compromise on the quality parameters, and asked the supervisory officers to ensure strict monitoring on the ground.
Malik highlighted the need of strengthening coordination among various departments to ensure that the works are not held up for minor issues. He called for sharing details of development plans under flagship programmes with DDC members to avoid overlapping of plan works under council grants and centrally sponsored schemes.
The Chairman DDC also directed for keeping the members in loop while holding Gram Sabha meetings so the area specific plans are formulated in a more pragmatic manner.
Some issues of urgent public importance were raised by the members for which on spot instructions were issued for their timely redressal.
