Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested five suspects and also seized six vehicles involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Budgam.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Post Waterhail, arrested five suspects identified as Tariq Ahmad Pandit R/o Kanoora Khansahab, Ishfaq Ahmad Ganie, Abdul Majeed Dar, Sameer Ahmad Ahangar and Shabir Ahmad Dar all residents of Sholipora Budgam and seized six vehicles 1 LNT and seized 5 tippers bearing registration numbers (JK14C-1705, JK03B-9020, JK05G-5212, JK13-1231 and JK03B-2072) for being used in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in area of Samson Khansahib.
Stating that a case under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Khansahib besides initiating further investigation, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law , appealing people therein to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
