DC calls for aligning PMJVK with district’s developmental goals

Doda : Deputy Commissioner (DC) Harvinder Singh on Saturday chaired the meeting of District-Level Committee here in Mini Conference Hall to review the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK)- flagship central scheme for development of minority communities. The meeting focused on finalizing proposals for the health and education sectors under the scheme.
The Deputy Commissioner reviewed the existing infrastructure and facilities in schools and directed the Chief Education Officer (CEO) to identify suitable land for constructing a school building in Asaar. He emphasized the need for additional classrooms and urged the CEO to coordinate with the Tehsildar to facilitate land availability.
Key issues discussed during the meeting included sanitation in rural areas, disaster management, solar system installations, segregation sheds in panchayats, and the construction of hospital hostel buildings. The DC instructed the Chief Planning Officer (CPO) to include vehicle procurement proposals for these initiatives.
The sanitation facilities at GMC Doda were also reviewed, with the DC directing officers to establish Aspirational toilets in the Medical College and the Tehsil Office Complex in Doda.
Additionally, he proposed funding for a dialysis unit at a suitable location and exploring the areas requiring Community Health Centers (CHCs), Primary Health Centers (PHCs), and Sub-District Hospitals (SDHs) to strengthen the district’s healthcare infrastructure.
Proposals for constructing girls’ hostels, Anganwadi centers, and a library in Kilhotran were also discussed under the PMJVK scheme. The DC further directed the CEO to identify school buildings across the district that require renovation and ensure timely completion of repair works.
In terms of sports infrastructure, the DC proposed the establishment of an indoor stadium in the Gandoh area and directed the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Gandoh to review the estimates for constructing a boundary wall around the stadium. He assured that funds would be proposed for the same. The DC also recommended setting up an archery center in Doda, as well as volleyball and basketball courts in Bhaderwah.
Other significant discussions included the development of an amphitheater and a cable car project for the district, aimed at enhancing tourism and recreational infrastructure.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized aligning PMJVK initiatives with the district’s developmental goals and ensuring the timely execution of projects. He highlighted the importance of addressing the needs of underprivileged and minority communities through targeted interventions. The meeting concluded with directives to prioritize health and education projects, enhance rural infrastructure, and promote equitable growth across the district.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) ) Doda, Sunil Bhutyal; Chief Planning Officer (CPO), Manesh Kumar Manhas; District Program Officer (ICDS), S. Parmjeet Singh; Principal GMC Doda, Rakesh Kumar; District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO), Tariq Qazi; Chief Education Officer (CEO), P.L Thapa; Lead Bank Manager, Parveen Kumar and other officers.
