2 drug peddlers arrested in Srinagar, Contraband & psychotropic substances also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in separate incidents and also recovered contraband & psychotropic substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that after receiving specific inputs about hoarding of contraband substance by one Bashir Ahmed Ganie S/o Ghulam Mohammad Ganie R/o Suthsu Kalan in his residential house a police party of Police Station Nowgam along with 1st Class Executive Magistrate BK Pora raided the said location and during search recovered 8.5 Kgs of Psychotropic substances from the said location besides arresting the accused owner of the house. Stating that a case under FIR no. 116/2024 under relevant sections of NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Nowgam besides initiating investigation Police in its statement further said that during the investigation of the case FIR No. 28/2024 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act of Police Station Maisuma, a special checkpoint was established at Sheikh Bagh Lane, following the disclosure of two arrested drug peddlers of the instant case, adding therein that the main accused identified as Shabir Ahmad Zaindari S/o Bashir Ahmad Zaindari R/o Firdous Colony Bemina was arrested and during search, substantial quantity of contraband substances have been recovered from his possession.
