GULMARG: MLA Gulmarg, Ahmad Shah, held a review meeting in Gulmarg to check winter preparations and finalize arrangements for the Khelo India Games, scheduled to take place from February 22 to February 25, 2025.

The MLA directed the R&B and Mechanical Departments to ensure the Narbal-Gulmarg road is properly maintained with enough manpower and machinery to avoid any inconvenience for tourists and athletes.

The Block Medical Officer (BMO) Tangmarg was asked to ensure that Gulmarg and Tangmarg hospitals are fully equipped to handle any emergencies during the winter season. He also stressed providing medical facilities at the first and second phases of the Gondola in collaboration with the Health Department.

The PHE Department was instructed to ensure uninterrupted water supply in hotels and deploy extra staff during the games. The Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA) was asked to keep Gulmarg clean using hoppers for waste collection and improve its beauty by promoting golf courses and managing pony tracks better.

The MLA appreciated the Cable Corporation’s online Tatkal services and e-ticketing for foreign tourists. He also suggested setting up a tourist advisory board and a helpline counter to assist visitors.

Ahmad Shah emphasized that all departments must work together to ensure a smooth winter season and the successful hosting of the Khelo India Games and other Events in Gulmarg.

Later in the afternoon, the MLA attended a felicitation ceremony at Hotel Arco, where tourism stakeholders were honored for their valuable contributions in the tourism industry.
