JKEDI hosts Orientation Program for students of SAM College B’gam

Students gain real time exposure about entrepreneurship, startups

Pulwama: Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) on Thursday organized a one-day Entrepreneurship Awareness program cum orientation for the students of Government Sheikh-ul-Alam Memorial (SAM) Degree College, Budgam.
The entrepreneurship orientation programme (EOP) was conducted for the Commerce and BCA students of the college.
The students interacted with the faculty and experts at JKEDI who briefed them about the evolving startup landscape in the U.T of Jammu and Kashmir along with business plan modeling, Detailed Project Report (DPR) formulation, capacity building and providing financial and market linkage including handholding and mentorship support to the aspiring entrepreneurs.
The students were briefed about various program verticals of the institute and their functions. The role of entrepreneurship as a career choice was also discussed during the visit. The students brainstormed on various innovation driven startup ideas along with their viability to be turned into successful business ventures.
Later, the students participated in the question answer session and put forth their understanding of various topics related to startups and entrepreneurship.
The program was coordinated by the Centre of New Enterprise Creation (CNEC), under the supervision and guidance of Director JKEDI, Rajinder Kumar Sharma.
Faculty from different verticals shared their expertise with the students and the role of the institute in creating an enabling ecosystem for entrepreneurship while detailing various interventions it is carrying out to do the same.
The students were accompanied by Prof. Moomin Sarwar Khan, Head of the Department, Computer Applications; Prof. Roohi ul Nissa Computer Applications, Prof. Mahrukh Syed Computer Applications, Prof. Asma Jan Computer Applications and Dr. Sajad Ahmad Mir from Department of Commerce.
The programme concluded with showcasing success stories of some successful entrepreneurs. A brief account of the challenges they faced in their entrepreneurial journey and how they have achieved their milestones further strengthened the conviction and motivation which the preceding sessions had pitched in.
