KU hosts orientation prog on NEP -2020 implementation at PG level at its main campus in Srinagar

Srinagar : To deliberate upon the modus-operandi for introducing various programs at PG level in the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS) under NEP-2020 framework, a one-day orientation program was held at University of Kashmir (KU).
The program was organized by the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS) KU in collaboration with the NEP Cell of the varsity.
The program, attended by faculty from various departments of SPMS aimed to deliberate on the introduction of one-year and two-year postgraduate programs in SPMS in alignment with NEP 2020 guidelines, starting from 2025.
In his presidential remarks, Dean Academic Affairs KU, Prof. ShariefuddinPirzada, highlighted the transformative impact of NEP 2020 on higher education and its potential to bridge the gap between conventional learning systems and modern global academic standards.
“The University is committed to offering quality education and skill-based programs to meet the aspirations of our youth and the demands of the job market,” he said.
Dean SPMS KU, Prof. Manzoor A. Malik, outlined the objectives of the program and stressed on the importance of understanding and implementing NEP 2020 at PG level.
“This orientation program is a step toward preparing for academic reforms that will shape the future of our students and society,” he said.
The program coordinator and Head, Dept of Mathematics KU, Prof. Mukhtar A. Khanday, welcomed the participants and highlighted the need for collaborative efforts in implementing the policy.
Expert sessions were delivered by former Principal, Higher Education Department J&K, Prof. M. Ashraf, who oversees NEP initiatives at the University, and Head, Department of Mathematics, Central University of Kashmir, Dr. Haribhau R. Bhapkar. The program featured interactive discussions spread across three sessions where faculty members shared insights and recommendations, which will be submitted to the competent authorities for further action.
