DC inspects developmental works, addresses public grievances in downtown Doda

Doda: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Harvinder Singh on Wednesday conducted a comprehensive visit to the downtown area of Doda to assess the progress of the ongoing developmental projects and engage with the local populace to address their grievances.
During the visit, DC Harvinder Singh inspected key infrastructural works, including the multi-storey car parking project, renovation of the drainage system at the old bus stand, and the shopping complex. He issued specific directions for speeding up the execution of these projects and ensuring their timely completion.
Emphasizing effective traffic management, he directed the concerned officers to operationalize the ground floor of the under-construction multi-storey car parking to reduce congestion in the town. He also interacted with shopkeepers in the vicinity, urging their cooperation in maintaining smooth traffic flow and orderly parking practices.
Accompanied by a team of officials, including ACR Sunil Bhutyal; Executive Engineer PWD Sajjad Ahmed; Executive Engineer PDD Rouf Batt and Dy. Later, he inspected the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) center operated by the MC at Akramabad. He emphasized the need for optimal waste utilization and proper functioning of the center. At the truck terminal in Akramabad, DC Harvinder Singh instructed officials to maintain cleanliness and ensure the smooth functioning of the facility.
The DC also inspected the slaughterhouse near DPL Doda and directed the municipal authorities to ensure its proper sanitation, water supply, and cleanliness of the nearby drainage (nallah). He stressed the need to avoid illegal parking in the vicinity and maintain hygienic conditions. Additionally, he instructed the PDD officials to remove unsymmetrical electric poles obstructing roads and directed the constructing agency of the multi-storey car parking project to install foot tiles around the parking area for public convenience.
While addressing public grievances, DC Harvinder Singh emphasized strict enforcement against wrong parking and encroachments by shopkeepers storing goods on the roadsides. He reiterated the importance of ensuring a clean and organized town, urging all stakeholders, including traffic management, municipal authorities, and residents, to cooperate in the town’s sustainable development. The visit highlighted the administration’s commitment to addressing civic issues, expediting developmental works, and improving the overall infrastructure and living standards in Doda.
