Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Shopian and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that Police Station Shopian received an inputs regarding the sale and purchase of Heroine in a residential house at Bonbazar Shopian. Stating that the said residential house of Bashir Ahmad Sofi S/o Gh Hassan Sofi R/o Bonbazar Hergam Shopian was raided and the accused was subsequently arrested, Police in its statement further said that the accused and his accomplice identified as Parvaiz Ahmad Peer S/o Ghulam Din Peer R/o Tujar Sopore was arrested besides which 381 grams of Heroin was also recovered from the possession of the said accused and his accomplice.
Police in its statement furthermore said that in a similar way, a Police party of Police Post Wachi during naka checking at Batapora Wachi link road intercepted a suspect identified as Umer Ahmad Bhat S/o Mohd Ismail Bhat R/o Marhama Sangam and during search recovered 1.8Kgs of Charas from his possession. Stating that cases under relevant sections of law were registered at respective police stations besides initiating further investigation to unearth the forward and backward linkages of the arrested individuals, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement resolves its mission to eliminate drug-related activities in the area and safeguard the community. Police also appealed people to be vigilant and report drug peddling activities to the nearest police station, ensuring collective action against the menace of drug addiction and trafficking.
