Drug peddler arrested in Pulwama, Contraband substance also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Pulwama and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that while acting on leads tracked during the ongoing investigation of case FIR No. 87/2024 under Section 8/22 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Litter, a drug peddler identified as Mohammad ShamimWani S/o Abdul Majeed Wani R/o Astanpora, was arrested and 15.50 grams of a Brown Sugar was recovered from his possession.
Police in its statement further said “the investigation conducted so far in the instant case revealed that one drug peddler identified as Yawar Ahmad Mir S/o Abdul Hamid Mir R/o Melhoura was already arrested on 26th November this and 10.58 grams of Brown Sugar was recovered from his possession”, adding therein that “To ascertain the backward/forward linkages, the accused Yawar Ahmad Mir was put to sustained questioning wherein he revealed the role of Mohammad ShamimWani of Astanpora in drug trafficking in the area”.
Police in its statement furthermore said “ The investigations revealed that the co-accused Mohammad ShamimWani was using his motorcycle, bearing registration no JK13F-0571, to transport the illicit drug and accordingly it was also seized in the instant case’, adding therein that “Further investigation of the case is going on”.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police said that it remains resolute in its mission to eliminate drug-related activities in the area and safeguard the community. Police also appealed people to remain vigilant and report drug peddling activities to the nearest police station, ensuring collective action against the menace of drug addiction and trafficking.
