Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it along with forest officials seized huge quantity of illicit forest timber in Watapora area of Bandipora.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that while acting on a specific input, a police party of Police Station Bandipora along with officials of Forest department raided a specific location at village Watapora and during search recovered197 wooden sleepers of Deodar and Kail measuring about 134 Cft from the said spot, adding therein that one bandsaw mill was also seized following which the owner of the said bandsaw was arrested.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police said that a case under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Bandipora besides initiating further investigation into the case.
