Srinagar : Police in Srinagar & Budgam observed ‘Thana Diwas’ across various Police Stations and Police Posts’ here on Thursday.
Thana Diwas events were organized in Thirteen Police Stations & two Police Posts of the district which include Police Station Lalbazar, Police Station Shergarhi, Police Station Khanyar, Police Station Nowgam, Police Station Kralkhud, Police Station Bemina, Police Station Shalteng, Police Station Chanpora, Police Station Ahmad Nagar, Police Station Karan Nagar, Police Station Nowhatta, Police Station Kothibagh, Police Station Zadibal,Police Post Rangreth and Police Post Urdu Bazar.
The meetings were chaired by supervisory officers & jurisdictional police officers and were attended by civil society members including members of Auqaf Committees, members of Traders Federation and Transporters, Panchayti Raj members, Religious Preachers, Mohallah elders etc.
During these meetings, participants highlighted various issues of public importance and put forth their grievances which were within the domain of district police like illegal narcotics trafficking, sand mafia, traffic issues etc. and some of the issues highlighted pertaining to civil administration like improvement and maintenance of roads, sanitation, public health, and electricity etc were also recorded. Police assured them that genuine grievances pertaining to Police will be resolved on priority and dealt as per law and those pertaining to civil administration will be taken up with the concerned departments for their timely redressal.
In Budgam, police observed ‘Thana Diwas’ at Police Station of Chrar-i-Sharief, Police Station Magam, Police Station Budgam and Police Post Soibugh, Police Post Hardpanzoo, Police Post Mouchwa and Police Post Waterihal. The events were chaired by respective jurisdictional officers. During these events, the officers listened to the various grievances of the public and assured them that their genuine grievances pertaining to Police will be resolved on priority & that of the other departments will be taken up with the concerned departments for their early redressal.
The participants were urged to co-operate with police in curbing the drug menace and in identifying anti- national and anti-social elements to maintain peace and order in the society.
