Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has booked two drug peddlers under PIT NDPS Act in Awantipora after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that the two drug peddlers namely Yawar Yousuf Sofi S/o Mohd Yousuf Sofi R/o Kadlabal Pampore and Feroze Ahmad Chopan S/o Mushtaq Ahmad R/o Larow Jagir Tral were booked under PIT NDPS Act in Awantipora after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jammu.
Stating that many cases were registered against the said drug peddlers for being involved in promoting drug trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Pampore, Tral and other areas of the Police District, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement reiterated its commitment to eradicate social evils and making all efforts to keep society free from drug abuse.
