Baramulla, Dec 09: An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was defused at Palhallan on Srinagar-Baramulla highway in north Kashmir on Monday morning, officials said.
Earlier, the traffic movement was halted along the highway after a joint team of police, army and paramilitary forces discovered a suspicious bag near Hyderbeigh TCP.
An official said that a bomb disposal squad was summoned to the site, which inspected the bag and defused it without causing any damage.
He said the traffic movement has been restored on the highway, adding that a major tragedy was averted by the timely discovery of the IED.
The official said that they have started an investigation.
