Jammu : The MSME DFO Jammu organized a seminar on Procurement & Marketing Support scheme to increase the awareness about the Public Procurement Policy among the MSEs at Bari Brahmana Industries Association, – Samba.
As per the PPP 2012 twenty five percent of Goods and services procured by the Government departments and PSUs are reserved for exclusive purchase from MSEs with a sub target of 4% from SC/ST owned MSEs and 3% from Women owned enterprises. These targets are yet to be achieved by a few Government departments and PSUs operating in J&K. To achieve this target, a mission based awareness is needed for the MSEs of J&K and the seminar was a step in this direction. Implementing this policy is very crucial for the social development of J&K for providing employment opportunities for the youth of this region.

The event was attended by Power Grid, NSIC and GeM and informed about their requirements from the MSME sector. The participating departments gave a detailed presentation about their purchase procedure and clarified the queries raised by entrepreneurs during the Q&A Sessions.
Earlier DK Tyagi, IEDS Assistant Director MSME DFO Jammu delivered a lecture on PMS Scheme and other schemes. Lalit Mahajan, Chairman, BBIA during his address appreciated the efforts of MSME DFO and suggested making use of all the schemes of the ministry including PPP 2012.
