Drug peddler arrested in Ang; contraband substance recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Anantnag and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Station Srigufwara at a checkpoint established at Nowshara crossing, apprehended a drug peddler identified as Mohd Amin Zargar, son-in-law of Gh Hassan Ganie R/o Sirhama and during search recovered approximately 2.9 kilograms of a cannabis substance from the possession of the said accused who was shifted to Police Station where he remains in Police custody.
Stating that a case under FIR No. 97/2024, under relevant sections of NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Srigufwara and further investigation has also been taken up, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood and warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
