Srinagar : Chairman Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen on Monday demanded immediate reversing of the recent reservation policy in recruitments and admissions in Jammu and Kashmir observing that it has squeezed the general category to 40% and increased reservation for reserved categories to 60%.
Demanding roll back of the unjust reservation policy in Jammu and Kashmir Hakeem termed reservation policy introduced by LG-led administration early this year a great injustice to the educated youth of Jammu and Kashmir. He alleged that the policy has squeezed the general category to 40%, which form the majority of the population, and increased reservation for reserved categories to 60%.
Hakeem urged all genuine aspirants, students, and concerned citizens to press the government for review of the reservation policy. He said the amendment in the Jammu and Kashmir reservation Act of 2004 made by the LG administration has triggered outrage from the educated youth and their parents.
PDF Chairman also demanded an immediate caste census in Jammu and Kashmir to create a transparent and equitable reservation policy based on the socio-economic realities of the region and to ensure fair justice to all categories of the society. He said reservation policy was a most sensitive issue as it has a direct bearing on the future of the youth and should be treated above the political and vote bank considerations.
