2 Drug Peddlers Arrested In Srinagar, Contraband Substances Also Recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Srinagar and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Station MR Gunj during naka checking at Syed Mansoor Bridge Zaldagar intercepted a vehicle (Venue) bearing registration number JK01AX-7639 , adding therein that though driver tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully. Stating that the accused identified as Rakib Ahmad Dar S/o Abdul Salam Dar R/o Rajouri Kadal Srinagar was arrested on the spot and during search, 11 grams of Brown Sugar like substance concealed in a polythene bag was recovered from the Dashboard of the said vehicle, Police in its statement further said that a case under FIR No. 51/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station MR Gunj besides initiating further investigation.
Police in its statement further said that during the course of the investigation of case FIR No. 134/2024 under Sections 8/21 and 29 of the NDPS Act of Police Station Safakadal, a police party of Police Post Noorbagh after unearthing of forward and backward linkages related to the previously arrested accused arrested another notorious drug peddler identified as Mohd Irfan Sheikh S/o Mohd Ashraf Sheikh R/o Pamposh Colony, Noorbagh. Stating that during search 2.51 grams of Herion was recovered from the possession of the said accused, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society, reiterating therein its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per the law.
