“The violation of norms, practices and procedures starts with the launch of admissions before the completion of annual examinations and ends up with the violation of the fee structure norms of the Fee Fixation & Regulation Committee (FFRC) across Jammu & Kashmir.”
Admissions in private schools always draws criticism due to violation of norms and basic spirits of acdemics and this time also the private schools in Kashmir have launched admission processes much before the completion of annual examinations of primary and middle classes and announcement of their results. True it is that both the Directorate of School Education Kashmir and as well as J&K Board of School Education (J&K BOSE) issues advisories for admissions almost dozens of times before and admission processes but the laxity shown in enforcement of such advisories emboldens private schools to start admissions even before the conduct of the annual examinations and grant admissions even in mid academic session on their own whims and wishes without showing any respect for the norms, practices and procedures of admissions set by the School Education Department of Jammu & Kashmir Government for private schools. Undoubtedly regulation of admission fee at private schools deserves and demands greater attention and intervention of both the School Education Department and as well Fee Fixation and Regulation Committee (FFRC) a statutory body established by an act of the erstwhile J&K State Assembly but ultimately the violation of norms, practices and procedures starts with the launch of admissions before the completion of annual examinations and ends up with the violation of the fee structure norms of the Fee Fixation & Regulation Committee (FFRC) across Jammu & Kashmir. Under the garb of quality education private schools can’t be given liberty to violate the Government rules and establish their own norms for starting and completing the admission or the examination processes. Ironically the private schools across Kashmir have on their own closed the online portals for admissions even before the completion of annual examinations and announcement of their results .
“Though Education Minister Sakina Itoo recently said that she herself will look into the irregularities of private schools but unfortunately private schools taking the liberty to launch admissions and close down admission portals before the completion of annual examinations evade action as usual. May be that Education Minister herself is not also herself aware about the irregularities private schools are committing in the admission processes but the surge in grievances from the hapless parents necessitates her immediate intervention and better if she starts intervention by seeking explanations from Valley’s private schools on this count.”
Though administrative wisdom demands that Directorate Of School Education Kashmir seeks explanation from the private schools for launching admissions before the completion of annual examinations and announcement of the results but it seems that Directorate itself is not aware about the launch of admissions before the completion of annual examination and shutting down of admission portals before the announcement of the results of annual examinations of primary and middle classes. Though Education Minister Sakina Itoo recently said that she herself will look into the irregularities of private schools but unfortunately private schools taking the liberty to launch admissions and close down admission portals before the completion of annual examinations evade action as usual. May be that Education Minister herself is not also herself aware about the irregularities private schools are committing in the admission processes but the surge in grievances from the hapless parents necessitates her immediate intervention and better if she starts intervention by seeking explanations from Valley’s private schools on this count.
