2 mechanized motor boats involved in illegal extraction & transportation of minerals in Awantipora seized: Police

Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has seized two mechanized motor boats involved in illegal mining & transportation of mineralsin Awantipora.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Station Awantipora seized two Mechanized motor boats being used by Ashiq Ahmad Sofi S/o Fayaz Ahmad Sofi, Ghulam Mohi Ud Din WaniS/o GhulamQadirWani, Umer Mohi Ud Din Wani S/o Ghulam Mohi Ud Din Wani, Towseef Ahmad Shah S/o Ab Rasheed Shah, Gulzar Ahmad Dar S/o Mohd Ramzan Dar, Bakhtiyar Ahmad Khan S/o Ab Qayoom Khan and Sameer Ahmad Bhat S/o Ghulam Ahmad Bhat all residents of Larkipora Awantipora for illicit extraction of sand from river Jhelum.
Stating a case was registered under FIR No. 165/2024 under relevant sections of law in Police Station Awantipora besides initiating further investigation, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement said that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned Police units.
