Srinagar : The Department of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Inderwal on Thursday inaugurated a special training program for Anganwadi Workers (AWWs) under the “Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi” initiative at its office in Chatroo. The training was formally inaugurated by District Program Officer (DPO) Rishi Sharma under the overall supervision of the Mission Director (MD) Poshan, J&K, Kishori Lal Sharma, who is overseeing the initiative.
The “Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi” initiative is designed to integrate Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) with nutrition, ensuring holistic development of children in the 0-6 age group. This training aims to equip Anganwadi Workers with the skills and knowledge to combine child education and nutrition at the grassroots level, fostering the well-being of children across the district.
In his address, the District Program Officer emphasised the critical role of Anganwari Workers in nurturing and empowering children. He praised their contributions as frontline workers and urged them to serve as role models for women’s empowerment in the region.
Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) from Inderwal shared valuable insights and experiences during the event, emphasizing the need for consistent and high-quality care for young children.
The training, running from November 28 to November 30, in Inderwal, will cover a range of topics including innovative teaching methods, child nutrition, early learning strategies, and effective communication techniques. The goal is to train Anganwadi Workers to be equipped to deliver both nutrition and early childhood education services effectively at their respective centers.
The training will be led by Supervisors and Master Trainers who have undergone specialized training in Chandigarh. Additionally, resource persons from the Health Department Dr Rashid Rasheed delivered guest lecturers to enhance the training’s impact.
In addition to the training staff, CDPO Inderwal Dr. Kuldeep Kumar, Supervisor Nushrat Ara, Supervisor Sehnaz Nazir, Master Trainers, Anganwadi Workers, and other ICDS staff members participated in the inaugural session.
This initiative is a step forward in ensuring that children receive a nurturing environment that supports their growth and well-being while also empowering Anganwadi Workers in their critical roles.
