Youth Convention ‘Yuva Utsav–India@2047’ held at KU Naseembag Campus Srinagar

Srinagar : National Service Scheme (NSS) University of Kashmir(KU) in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Srinagar & District Youth Services and Sports Srinagar organised a District level Youth Convention ‘Yuva Utsav–India@2047’ at KU campus here on Wednesday.
According to a statement issued from Centre for Public Relations University of Kashmir, Srinagar to celebrate ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ in the spirit of Yuva Shakti, more than 260 talented students from various higher secondary schools of district Srinagar participated in different competitive events including Young Artist Contest–Painting, Young Writers Contest—Poetry, Photography Contest & Workshop, Declamation Contest, Science Mela -individual category, Science Mela -group category and Cultural Festival-group category.
Captivating cultural performances were presented throughout the day by various talented teams, and participants of the declamation contest expressed their thoughts on the topic “Panch Pran.”
Simultaneously, students engaged in a creative writing session, penning their poems, while the photography contestants captured the KU`s beautiful landscape to get their best photographs.
The competitive events were planned meticulously so that the best students are selected for further participation at the UT and national level competitions.
In her message Vice Chancellor KU Prof Nilofer Khan said “Such initiatives aim to rekindle the spirit of patriotism, to generate appreciation about diverse spiritual and cultural heritage among the masses and to form a fraternity of youth artists, writers, photographers and orators who will lead this movement from grassroots level to national level.”
While presiding over the valedictory session Dean Academic Affairs KU Prof Shariefuddin Pirzada said that KU campus offers lot of opportunities to young students to showcase their talent in different fields and arenas and added “As enshrined in NEP -2020 such events and programs provide orientation to the young students to help them in choosing their career while they compete in such youth competitions and conventions and at the same time this also provide us an opportunity to identify the talented lot.”
In his remarks Registrar KU Prof Naseer Iqbal while referring to the youth convention said “Our youth need such platforms which channelizes their energy and talent in the right direction so as to make their contributions more meaningful and result oriented”
Speaking on the occasion District Officer Youth Services and Sports Srinagar Ghulam Hassan while providing the details of programs and events organized by his department at Srinagar District level said “Besides showcasing youth power (Yuva Shakti) such conventions also portray the rich cultural identity and heritage of our region.”
The winners were adjudged by qualified panel of jury and the winning teams in each category were awarded with cash prizes and certificates.
Programme Coordinator NSS KU and Media Advisor Dr Musavir Ahmad while presenting the event summary provided insights into the objectives behind organizing such events and also highlighted the concept of youth engagement in nation-building and empowering them to become leaders in all walks of life. Dr Musavir also proposed vote of thanks on the occasion.
