VC IUST reviews NEP implementation, said Internalization to be pursued vigorously

Awantipora : Addressing the importance of further reinforcing the processes adopted in the advent of NEP 2020, Prof Shakil Ahmad Romshoo stressed on the importance of accountability and sensitization among all stakeholders.
The review meet among others was attended by Prof A H Moon, Dean Academic Affairs, Prof A W Makhdoomi, Registrar, Prof Sheikh Javid, Dean Research, Dr Javid Iqbal, Dr Kaiser Giri, Dr A Bisati, Dr Roman Bashir, Dr Peer Bilal. The participants briefed the Vice Chancellor about the progress on different initiatives adopted in pursuance of NEP particularly with regard to multidisciplinary education, mobility across courses and across institutions, skilling, innovation etc.
In his address, Prof Romshoo stressed on the need for continuing with the reforms for better employability prospects of students and said the institutionalization of innovation, research with societal impact, entrepreneurship, new age skills require a concerted at all levels in the University. He said that the main objective of NEP is to shape the students into well rounded individuals capable of meeting the future challenges.
In his presentation, Prof A H Moon talked about transition to multidisciplinary and IUST’s strategy for realizing higher enrolments, offering students greater choices and making them own their learning journey.
Dean Academic Affairs, said that Admissions at IUST are over 40 % higher than last year and credited it to better teaching, innovative pedagogy, industry exposure among others. He said that IUST is emerging as the first preference of Students. Prof Shakil Ahmad Romshoo added that Introduction of in demand courses such as Data Sciences, AI, Robotics and Automation offered students diverse choices to explore their potential.
Vice Chancellor also said that the consultations with all stakeholders on Institution Development Plan exercise shall ensure a strategy that resonates with the requirements of the times and help us shape the university into a leading Institute in the country.
