MDP on “Data Cleaning and Data Mapping” organised by SKUAST-K

Srinagar : The Division of Agricultural Statistics, SKUAST-Kashmir, in collaboration with the Islamia College of Science and Commerce (ICSC), Srinagar, and sponsored by the Ministry of MSME, successfully inaugurated a training programme titled “Data Cleaning and Data Mapping for Effective Decision Making and Entrepreneurial Success.” here on Wednesday.
The initiative brought together postgraduate scholars and students from ICSC’s Degree by Design programme, providing them with practical knowledge and skills in data cleaning, data mapping, and their applications in entrepreneurship and evidence-based decision-making. The event was graced by Prof. Haroon Rashid Naik, Director of Research and Project Planning and Monitoring, SKUAST-Kashmir, as the Chief Guest, and Prof. TehmeenaYousuf, Principal of Islamia College of Science and Commerce, as the Chief Patron. The inaugural session was opened by Dr. M. S. Pukhta, Professor & Head of the Division of Agricultural Statistics, SKUAST-K, who welcomed participants and faculty, emphasizing the critical importance of data cleaning and mapping in research, business analytics, and entrepreneurial innovation. Dr. Immad A. Shah, the Coordinator of the programme, outlined the goals of the training, stressing its role in equipping students and scholars with essential data processing skills to meet the demands of contemporary research and entrepreneurial challenges.
In his keynote address, the Chief Guest, Prof. Haroon Rashid Naik, highlighted the pivotal role of training programmes like these in fostering skill development, enabling students to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical applications. Prof. Tehmeena, Principal of ICSC, reinforced the importance of collaboration in organizing such impactful initiatives, emphasizing their role in enhancing the professional competence of students. The programme witnessed the presence of senior faculty members, including Prof. Aijaz A. Bhat, Prof. Imran Khan, Prof. SajadSarwar, and other esteemed members of ICSC’s faculty, whose engagement enriched the overall experience for participants. The concluding session featured remarks by Prof. Tariq. A. Raja, who expressed his gratitude to the participants, faculty, and organizing teams for ensuring the programme’s success. He encouraged the attendees to apply their newly acquired data cleaning and mapping skills in academic research and entrepreneurial projects to achieve greater effectiveness. Sponsored by the Ministry of MSME, this training programme was widely acclaimed as a timely and practical initiative aimed at integrating essential data cleaning and mapping methodologies into the curriculum. It marks a significant step forward in preparing students to thrive in the evolving data-driven landscape.
