BGSB University Celebrates Constitution Day

Rajouri: Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), Rajouri on Tuesday marked the celebration of Constitution Day on 26th November, commemorating the adoption of the Indian Constitution. The event, aimed at promoting constitutional awareness, was attended by students, faculty, and staff members from across the university.
The celebrations commenced with a solemn reading of the Preamble of the Constitution by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Jawaid Iqbal. The event was held in the Vice Chancellor’s secretariat and was attended by the senior officers and officials of the University. The Vice Chancellor, in his address, emphasized the importance of understanding the Constitution as the foundation of India’s democracy, which upholds the values of justice, equality, and fraternity. He urged the university community to reflect on their roles and responsibilities as citizens in promoting the constitutional ideals of justice and liberty. Prof. Jawaid further highlighted the need to educate the younger generation about constitutional values and the importance of protecting democratic principles.
Following the Preamble reading, several departments of the University including College of Engineering and Technology, Mathematics, Information Technology, Environmental Sciences, Microbiology, Persian, English ,Education, Botany and Zoology organized diverse activities to deepen understanding of the Constitution among the Students. The day also included interactive sessions with students, where they engaged in discussions about the significance of the Constitution and the importance of fundamental rights. On the occasion, Centre for Multidisciplinary Studies and Research organized an essay writing competition for the students of various Departments/Centres/Colleges of the University on the theme ‘the significance of Constitution day’. Mr. Sajan Rafiq Khan and Nida Dar of BVOC 5th semester secured the 1st and 2nd position respectively, whereas Rohan Singh of Information Technology Engineering secured 3rd position in the essay writing competition.
