Srinagar, Nov 26: The Meteorological Centre on Tuesday predicted a three-day wet weather event beginning at the end of this month that can bring rain and snow to scattered to fairly widespread places over  Jammu and Kashmir.
The MeT office said the weather will generally remain dry till November 29, and from the evening of November 30, there is a possibility of light rain and light snow over the higher reaches and at isolated places.
The weather is very likely to remain inclement during December 1 and 2 with the possibility of light rain and light snow over the higher reaches and at the scattered to fairly widespread places over Jammu and Kashmir, the MeT office said, and added the weather will remain dry hereafter till December 6.
The cold weather condition continued to grip the Kashmir Valley, and barring Srinagar and Kokernag, the night temperature remained below freezing point at other weather stations, with the hill resorts of Gulmarg and Pahalgam remaining the coldest spots.
The MeT officials said Gulmarg’s minimum temperature stayed at -2.4°C for the second consecutive day on Tuesday, and it was 0.5°C below normal for the valley of meadow in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
The night temperature further dipped at Pahalgam, recorded at minus 2.7°C during the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday against the minus 2.3°C recorded the previous night. It was 0.6°C below normal for the tourist destination of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
The minimum temperature at Srinagar improved and was recorded at 0.7°C against the 4.0°C recorded the previous night. It was 0.6°C above normal for the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir during this period of the season.
Qazigund recorded a low of minus 0.8°C on Tuesday against the 5.0°C, Kupwara minus 0.8°C against the 1.2°C, and the picnic spot of Kokernag in south Kashmir recorded at 1.8°C against the 2.8°C recorded on Monday, the MeT office said.
