National Campaign against Gender-Based Violence observed at Shopian

Shopian: The National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) Shopian, in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Shopian, on Monday observed the National Campaign Against Gender-Based Violence at the District Mission Management Unit (DMMU) office.
The event, held in conjunction with Self-Help Group (SHG) members, aimed to raise awareness about the importance of eliminating gender-based violence and promoting a culture of equality and respect.
UzmaMehraj, District Programme Manager, NRLM Shopian, emphasized the need for collective efforts to address gender-based violence and ensure a safe and supportive environment for all.
Deputy Chief (LADC) Rafie Ahmad, DLSA Shopian, highlighted the legal provisions and support services available for victims of gender-based violence.
The event featured interactive sessions, awareness rallies, and pledge-taking ceremonies, reaffirming the commitment to ending gender-based violence and promoting women’s empowerment.
During the event, several issues pertaining to women were discussed, and on-the-spot resolutions were provided. Some of the issues addressed included harassment and domestic violence, property and inheritance rights, access to education and healthcare, economic empowerment and livelihood opportunities.
