Anantnag, November 25: In a major step against drug trafficking, Bijbehara Police Station,Anantnag apprehended a woman drug peddler identified as Gulshana, wife of Mohammad Yousuf Ganie, a resident of Takiya Maksood Shah, Bijbehara. The arrest followed the recovery of approximately 8 kilograms of a cannabis powdery substance from her possession.
The seizure was made during a naka (checkpoint) operation conducted by the Police team in the area. Subsequently, a case has been registered under FIR No. 226/2024, U/S 8/20 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Police Station Bijbehara. Investigation is ongoing, and further legal proceedings will follow.
Drug abuse remains a severe threat to society, and its eradication requires collective efforts and cooperation from all sections of the community.
