Drug peddler arrested in G’bal: Police

Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested a notorious drug peddler in Ganderbal and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Station Kheerbawani at a checkpoint established at Theeru intercepted a suspects identified as Mohd Aarif Khan S/o Noor Mohd Khan R/o Theeru and during his search recovered 30 grams of charas and 4.5 Kgs of Bangpatri from his possession. Police in its statement further said that the said accused was arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in Police custody.
Police in its statement further said “ during investigation the said accused disclosed that he has kept more contraband substance at the residential house of another accused at Takiebal Ganderbal”, adding “acting swiftly, the investigating team raided the said residential house in presence of Executive Magistrate 1st Class and recovered 11 Kgs of contraband substance Bangpatri was seized on the spot”, Stating therein further that efforts are on to apprehend the other accused.
Stating that a case under FIR No. 51/2024, under relevant sections of NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Kheerbawani besides initiating further investigation , Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood and warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
