Chairperson DDC Rajouri reviews progress of dev projects across major sectors

Rajouri : Chairperson District Development Council (DDC) Rajouri, Advocate Naseem Liaqat on Saturday convened a crucial meeting to review the progress under key sectors, including the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), Rural Development Department (RDD) initiatives, Holistic Agriculture Development Program (HADP), and other flagship programs being implemented by different departments.
The meeting was attended by Council Members, besides Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Dr. Raj Kumar Thapa, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Council and functionaries of different departments. Dr. Thapa provided a comprehensive overview of the ongoing schemes and their progress across the district.
Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, it was reported that 34 schemes have been completed out of 298 planned in the district. Chairperson Naseem Liaqat emphasized the need to ensure that no household is left out of the mission’s benefits and directed officials to prioritize the protection of filtration plants. The water quality testing and monitoring mechanisms were also reviewed to enhance public health outcomes.
The Chairperson raised concerns over mining-related issues and instructed that tehsil-level task forces be activated to control mining related issues & to address challenges so as to ensure sustainable practices.
Reviewing the Power Development Department’s progress, the Chairperson underscored the urgency of metering nine unmetered industrial units in the district.
Under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), he directed the concerned authorities to share details of installed transformers, poles, AB cables, and conductors with DDC members. He also stressed the importance of consulting public representatives before installing transformers to ensure equitable distribution and public satisfaction.
In the context of the Holistic Agriculture Development Program, the Chairperson highlighted the potential for boosting the cultivation of pecan nuts and apples, particularly in the rural areas of Budhal, Darhal, and Thanamandi. He called for widespread awareness campaigns to educate the public about the program’s benefits and opportunities.
The Chairperson also reviewed the performance of the Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Fisheries, Horticulture, Food and Civil Supplies, and Labour departments. He directed the officers to address operational challenges and ensure timely delivery of services to the public.
ADDC Rajouri/CEO DDC Council, Dr. Raj Kumar Thapa, thanked all DDC members for their active participation and valuable inputs during the meeting. He directed the officers to expedite ongoing development works across the district and emphasized the need to consult and involve DDC members in planning processes and during public awareness drives.
The meeting was attended by DDC members, Superintending Engineer (SE) Mohd Taj, CPO Maqsood Ahmed, DMO Mohammad Sayeed, ACP Sheraz Ahmed, DSEO, Sandeep Sharma, CAO, CHO, Executive Engineers I&FC, JPDCL, and Jal Shakti Departments, District Pollution Control Board Officer, DSHO, AD FCS&CA, AD Tourism, DYSSO, ALC, and District Manager NRLM.
