Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested four persons for being involved in illegal mining & transportation of minerals in Awantipora besides seizing four vehicles from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party headed by SHO Police Station Awantipora and Incharge Police Post Toll Plaza seized 4 vehicles and arrested four suspects involved in illegal extraction/ transportation of minerals in Awantipora areas. Police in its statement identified the said accused arrested by it as Nadeem Ahmad Dar S/o Ab Hamid Dar R/o Barsoo, Zahoor Ahmad Rather S/o Ab Ahad Rather R/o Lethpora, Amir Ashraf Dar S/o Mohd Ashraf Dar R/o lethpora and Aabid Mushtaq S/o Mushtaq Ahmad R/o Mandakpal.
Stating that the seized vehicles include Tippers bearing registration numbers JK13H-0797, JK13D-4847, JK13F-0197, JK02AX-4658, Police in its statement further said that cases under FIR No.’s 161/2024 and 163/2024 under relevant sections of law were registered at Police Station Awantipora besides which investigation was also initiated.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement police warned that people indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed the law abiding citizens to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
